Sonny’s Chili With Beans

Ingredients

2 pounds ground round
1 16oz jars of PACE PICANTE mild sauce
4 16 ounce cans light red kidney beans — washed and drained
3 10 ounce cans Rotel original diced tomatoes & green chilies
1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
1 8 ounce can tomato paste
4 teaspoons chili powder — not heaping
Garlic powder — to taste
1 medium yellow onion — chopped fine
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and red pepper — to your taste

NOTES: You can make it hotter if you want to. Just use medium or hot picante sauce instead of mild.

Instructions

On a medium high setting, brown meat in a Dutch oven. Stirring continuously. When meat is brown add chili powder, onion, and garlic powder to pot. Cook on medium low setting, remembering to stir often. After beans are washed and drained add to chili. At this time also add Picante sauce, tomatoes and tomato sauce. Cook for 2 hours on medium low setting. Stir often. After 2 hours add sugar and salt and pepper to your taste.
